Perth Suburbs Guide: Finding the Right Neighbourhood
Perth's suburban spread is vast but the inner ring offers distinct characters worth knowing. Leederville and Mount Lawley in the inner north are known for lively cafe and restaurant strips on Oxford Street and Beaufort Street respectively. Subiaco, west of the city, has heritage homes, boutique shops and good train access. Cottesloe and Mosman Park on the coast offer beachside living at a premium. South Perth, across the river from the CBD, has parkland and river views. Northbridge, immediately north of the Perth CBD, is the nightlife and dining hub. Fremantle (19km southwest) functions almost as a second city with its own culture and community feel.
