Hiking and Walking Near Perth: The Bibbulmun Track, Cape to Cape and Kings Park
Perth sits at the western end of two of Australia's most celebrated long-distance trails, both accessible for day sections from the metropolitan area. The Bibbulmun Track runs 1,000 kilometres from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills to Albany on the south coast, with the first section from Kalamunda accessible as a day walk or two-day overnight hike. The Cape to Cape Track runs 135 kilometres between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin through the Margaret River region, 3-4 hours south of Perth, with day sections of the track among the finest coastal walking in Australia. Kings Park's DNA tower and Botanic Garden trail network in the heart of the city is accessible daily for a walk with views of the Swan River and CBD. The Kalamunda Water Tower walk in the Perth Hills is a popular family hike with escarpment views. The Lesmurdie Falls walk near Kalamunda is a classic 3-kilometre return in the hills. The Dwellingup area, 90 minutes south, has the Bibbulmun Track and the Murray River circuit as strong day-walk options from Perth.
