Dog-Friendly Perth: Beaches, Parks and Off-Leash Areas

Perth is a dog-friendly city with an excellent network of off-leash parks and several designated dog-friendly beach areas across the metropolitan coast. Leighton Beach in North Fremantle has one of Perth's most popular off-leash beach sections. Swanbourne Beach has a designated off-leash zone that is well used by inner western suburbs residents. Several beaches along the northern coastal corridor have off-leash sections at specified hours. King's Park has dog-friendly walking paths (leash required in the national park section). Whiteman Park north of the city is a large open space with areas that permit off-leash dog walking. Herdsman Lake Regional Park is popular for leashed dog walks through significant birdlife habitat. The City of Perth's website and surrounding council sites list current off-leash designations. Many cafes on Oxford Street Leederville, Napoleon Street Cottesloe and Mount Lawley's Beaufort Street have outdoor seating welcoming dogs.
