Pitch a story
Contribute to The Daily Perth
We commission freelance reporting, op-eds, photography and investigations from contributors who know Perth well. Every pitch is read by an editor within 48 hours.
What we're looking for
- Local reporting with original interviews or documents — not press-release rewrites.
- Op-eds with a clear argument and a writer who has standing on the topic.
- First-person essays grounded in Perth life.
- Investigations and FOI-driven stories. We can advise on requests.
- Strong photography from Perth events, neighbourhoods and people.
Guidelines
- Pitch the story, not the topic. One paragraph on what's new, who you've spoken to, and why now.
- Target length: 600–1,200 words for features, 400–700 for op-eds.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest up front.
- We pay on publication. Rates vary by length and reporting depth — we'll quote you when we commission.
- We don't accept AI-generated copy. Human-reported only.
