Cycling in Perth: The Swan River Path, Coastal Routes and Rail Trails
Perth has one of Australia's more developed urban cycling networks, taking advantage of its flat coastal plain geography and significant investment in shared paths over the past decade. The Swan River Path runs from Fremantle in the south along both banks of the river through the CBD and on to the foothills, providing approximately 50 kilometres of riverside riding. The Coastal Shared Path (CSP) runs from Fremantle north through Cottesloe, Swanbourne, City Beach, Scarborough and on to Hillarys, providing a scenic coastal cycling corridor. The Perth to Armadale Rail Trail follows a former railway corridor south through the metropolitan area. The Munda Biddi Trail is a world-class off-road cycling trail running 1,000 kilometres from Mundaring south to Albany, with day-section access from the metro area. Lime Scooters and hire bikes are available across the CBD. Cycling WA publishes comprehensive route maps.
